Uptyke Consulting Limited

EdTech for Learners with Disabilities

Curriculum-aligned digital learning built from the ground up so every child, regardless of ability, can learn with independence and dignity.

Our Story

Uptyke Consulting Limited was born from a simple but urgent question: why can't Kethi learn like everyone else?

In 2019, founder Lilian Kawira Mutegi met an eight-year-old visually impaired learner in Tharaka-Nithi County who was eager to learn but had no digital content available to her.

Across Kenya, over 90% of digital learning materials exclude children with disabilities, and more than 40% of children with disabilities remain outside early learning programmes altogether. Uptyke was founded to close that gap.

What We Do

We develop and distribute KICD-approved interactive lessons for Kindergarten through Grade 12 — with accessibility features embedded in every lesson, not bolted on.

Built-in accessibility

Kenya Sign Language animations, closed captions, audio narration, text-to-speech, and AI-driven personalisation in every lesson.

Designed for every learner

Content shaped for children who are deaf or hard of hearing, blind or visually impaired, and those with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Works offline and on low bandwidth

Purpose-built to reach learners in rural and underserved communities where connectivity is unreliable.

Beyond content

Teacher-training workshops, online educator mentorship, and community engagement tools that help schools sustain inclusive practice.
